NTPC's plant in J'khand gets back its coal linkage

The Union government has stated that coal linkage to NTPC's proposed 1,980 mw North Karnapura power plant in Jharkhand has been restored but supply of the fuel will start in the next Plan period. In pursuance of the Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) decision, the coal linkage granted to North Karnapura Thermal Power plant of NTPC in Jharkhand from Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL) is restored, Coal Ministry has said. IIFCL Mutual Fund's 1st infra debt fund launched

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram on June 18 said that India must look at channelling insurance and pension funds into the newly-formed infrastructure debt funds (IDFs). Channelling of insurance and pension funds into IDFs is essential as the two funds from both insurance and pension sectors are long-term, Chidambaram said after launching the maiden IDF scheme of IIFCL mutual fund at North Block in Parliament. Jharkhand's Khunti district to get hydel plant

Jharkhand's energy department is working on a plan to set up a 62 mw hydel power plant at the Koel-Karo basin of Torpa block in Khunti district. The proposed power plant will not displace a single family as was the case with the abandoned Koel-Karo project of the Centre, which was to generate 710 mw and displace about one lakh families besides submerging over 50,000 acres of land, officials concerned said. The Koel-Karo project, which was envisaged in 1957 as part of the second five year plan, was shelved in 2003 owing to protests by local people largely tribal families. Read more...

CIL says power plants have coal stocks at 10-yr high

Coal India (CIL) Chairman S Narsing Rao has said that coal stocks in power plants are at a 10-year high, and has remained that way for the past few weeks. The stock is about 20 million tonne, which is good enough for generating power for the next two weeks, he added. For the last five years, coal stock in power plants never exceeded 9-10 million tonne. TN issues bonds under Central discom debt recast scheme

Bihar's Bhagalpur to get air travel again

In Bihar's Bhagalpur, operation of air travel services will be resumed after after 35 years when Skyfisher Airways resumes its 'Air-Auto' operations in the first week of July. Bhagalpur is one of the oldest divisions in Bihar. For the purpose, the Directorate of Civil Aviation, government of Bihar have already sanctioned Rs 1.33 crore. Read more...

Ministry seeks 2 coal blocks for RINL

Senco Gold to expand in central, northern India

Kolkata-based jeweller Senco Gold plans to expand with retail outlets in the northern and central parts of the country. The first such outlet was recently opened in Delhi.
