India faced peak power deficit of 9,020 mw in April: CEA

Centre commences work on 6 greenfield airports

The Government of India has granted 'in principle' approval for setting up of 15 greenfield airports across the country out of which, physical work at 6 airports namely, Gulbarga, Hassan, Shimoga in Karnataka, Durgapur in West Bengal, Pakyong in Sikkim and Shirdi in Maharashtra, has already commenced, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal told the Lok Sabha last week. Centre provides subsidy to states to for solar streetlights

The Union government does not directly provide solar streetlights to the states. However, the Union government is providing a subsidy of 30 per cent of the project cost subject to a maximum of Rs 81 per watt peak for installation of solar streetlights in the General Category States in the country, said the Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in Lok Sabha recently. Govt grants in-principle nod for 15 greenfield airports

The Union Ministry of Civil Aviation has granted in-principle approval for setting up 15 greenfield airports across India. Out of the approvals given to the 15 airports, physical work at six airports—Gulbarga, Hassan, Shimoga in Karnataka, Durgapur in West Bengal, Pakyong in Sikkim, and Shirdi in Maharashtra, has already commenced, an official release stated. AAI's budget cut to hit airport development in Northeast

The airport development programme in Northeast India will hit by the cut in the Airport Authority of India's (AAI) budgetary support, stated a Parliamentary panel of Rajya Sabha. Hydel project in Sikkim goes on stream
