FCI to build 42 silos of 2 mn capacity, bids to be called soon

For building 42 modern silos or foodgrain storage facilities countrywide, the Food Corporation of India (FCI) will soon invite bids, FCI said on June 17. West Bengal's power plants possess record coal stock

In West Bengal, power plants this year have comfortable stocks of coal when compared to the same time last year. The power plants in the same time last year were struggling for coal with stock down to critical limit of four days. TN issues bonds under Central discom debt recast scheme

Bangladesh govt refuses access to Chittagong port

Bangladesh government refused to allow India to access Chittagong port unless the latter resolves Teesta river issue. India faced peak power deficit of 9,020 mw in April: CEA

As scarcity of coal continued to haunt electricity generation, India witnessed a peak power shortage of over 9,000 mw in April this year. Peak power deficit, or shortage in electricity supply when the demand is at its highest, stood at 6.9 per cent or 9,020 mw in the month of April, according to latest data by the Central Electricity Autority (CEA). Senco Gold to expand in central, northern India

Kolkata-based jeweller Senco Gold plans to expand with retail outlets in the northern and central parts of the country. The first such outlet was recently opened in Delhi. The Rs 1,200-crore group is a dominant player in Kolkata with 44 outlets in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Assam. Plans are now afoot to double the retail network in next five years.
