Road minister to launch electronic toll collection system on 31st October

The launching of the electronic toll collection (ETC) system is rescheduled on October 31, 2014.Road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will now inaugurate the ETC on 31st October instead of 27th October, 2014. The electronic toll collection system is already in place at 55 toll plazas and their integration with Central Clearing House (CCH) operators is almost complete on the Delhi-Mumbai route via Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. Indian Highways Management Company Ltd is formed with equity participation from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) (25%), concessionaires (50%) and financial institutions (25%).
