Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) plans to develop residential and commercial projects in about 100 acre land in in Khanamet on public private partnership (PPP) basis.
The land is located between Hi-Tec City MMTS station and the proposed metro rail station near Shilparamam. The authority plans to develop the area as Madhapur has almost attained saturation levels in terms of development.
Located on the spinal road connecting the National Highway 9 (Mumbai Highway) on the JNTU-Kukatpally-Hi-Tec City stretch, the identified area is considered to be the most potential area. The road is also less than 10 km from the Outer Ring Road junction in Gachibowli. With real estate picking up, the HMDA, which has been looking at various options for generating revenue, has taken up the initiative.
HMDA would involve a consultant for preparation of a 'greenfield nodal development' plan following recent trends in urban designs on the lines of Down Town.
The new hub would be useful for transit-oriented development with commercial and mixed-land use development with pedestrian facilities, open spaces and convenience of metro, MMTS and bus stations.
The HMDA has invited Request for Proposal for selection of a consultant for the nodal development of Khanamet and the selection process will be completed by February-end, HMDA chief engineer V Madhwaraja said.
