India’s largest container port near Mumbai Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has decided to freeze part of the total payment to Royal Boskalis, a Dutch dredging company after it was allegedly found flouting rules regarding the age of dredging vessels.
JNPT sources said that the the payment to Boskalis amounts to about Rs 200 crore.
JNPT said that its board of directors has passed a resolution to stop payment to Boskalis. The JNPT requested the Union Ministry of Shipping to disqualify the firm from undertaking projects in India.
Boskalis was the lowest bidder for the project at Rs 1,219.8 crore and the company is expected to take a legal route to claim its money.
