Manipur to get 5,000 mt foodgrain godown

Manipur Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution KV Thomas inaugurated a new granary of 5,000 mt capacity in the state recently. On this occasion Chief Minister of Manipur, Okram Ibobi Singh was also present.    Presently five FCI depots are operating in the state with a capacity of 33,090 mts. With this, FCI is effectively serving the needs of 4,06,593 PDS beneficiaries through annual induction of about 2.35 Lac mt of foodgrain to Manipur despite geographical and infrastructural bottlenecks.    After the construction of seven new FCI godowns in the state, storage capacity will increase to 37,500 mt and every revenue district in the state will have at least one FCI godown.
