Railways freight up during 1st half of fiscal

During the first half of the current fiscal 2013, the Indian Railways has carried 511.00 million tonne of revenue earning freight, registering an increase of 29.65 million tonne over the freight traffic of 481.35 million tonne actually carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 6.16 per cent.    The Indian Railways, during last September alone, carried the revenue earning freight traffic of 84.86 million tonne.    There is an increase of 8.93 million tonne over the actual freight traffic of 75.93 million tonne carried by the Indian Railways during the same period last year, showing an increase of 11.76 per cent.
