Though the toll rates on Panipat-Jalandhar highway have been hiked for the road users, widening work on the highway has been delayed and the concessionaire company is badly maintaining it, forcing the motorists to face hardhips.
While the work on the road widening project is being delayed the concessionaire and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) are fighting a litigation in the apex court. The highway's service lanes and main carriage way have been badly damaged. However, toll rates have been upwardly revised recently by the concessionaire company Soma Isolex.
In the recent rainy season, the service lanes were badly damaged due to water-logging. Service lanes of the NH at several places in Punjab and Haryana are potholed. Citing the case pending in the court, the concessionaire says it can't resume full-fledged work on the highway till the litigation cleared.
