The Andhra Pradesh State Government has decided to boost production of renewable energy from wind, solar, small hydro and municipal wastes.
To achieve the twin objectives overcoming the present power shortage and to encourage environment-friendly sources of power, the government will shortly announce an investor-friendly policy for investors who come forward to invest in wind, solar, municipal wastes and small hydro power projects.
It is expected that several thousands of megawatts of renewable power will be connected to the grid in 2013. The State Chief Minister on September 24 reviewed the generation from renewable energy sector with Ministers and officials concerned. The Chief Minister said that the State government wanted to encourage the renewable energy sector in a big way.
