The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) has announced to build 5,000 affordable houses for low income and middle income groups in two years. The houses are to come up in the city's areas like Kathwada, Nikol, Bhat-Sughad and Khodiyar. These areas are newly demarcated as the 'affordable housing' zone in the city. Nearly 43.25 sq km of the total 67.51 sq km under the zone has been earmarked for this purpose.
The Auda said the size of these affordable houses will be 66 sqm for middle income group housing and 36 sqm for Lower Income Group housing, Auda Chairman Dharmesh Shah said.
