Upgradation of Shahkot-Punia road begins

Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), the Punjab mandi board has initiated the process to upgrade the Shahkot-Punia link road. A road stretch of 10.25-km is being upgraded under the scheme and widened to 33 feet from existing 22 feet.    The officials concerned said that land owners on both sides of the route have been asked to donate 5.6-foot-wide strip on each side for the road widening. It would be for the benefit of the villagers in particular and the public at large, the officials said.    The land owners have been asked to fill gift deeds to give away part of the property to the PM's road development programme.
