The Odisha government has entrusted a road project, estimated to cost at Rs 1,293 crore, to L&T Infrastructure Development Projects (L&T IDPL). The contract is awarded on a build-operate-transfer basis. L&T IDPL has sought a grant of Rs 465.30 crore for four-laning of the 161.73 km Sambalpur-Rourkela section of the State highway.    For the road project, the concession period of the project is 22 years, including the construction period of three years. The road at present has two lanes. It has to be widened to four with other facilities such as flyovers, underpasses, bridges, bus bays, rest areas and service roads.
