Committee to conserve Bangalore lakes

Upon receiving a contempt notice from the Karnataka High Court, the State government has formed committee to maintain and develop lakes in the garden city of India Bangalore. The committees to maintain and develope lakes in Bangalore Metropolitan Area.    Bangalore has been named for its gardens, lakes and salubrious climate.    Commissioner of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Chief Executive Officer of the Lake Development Authority and the Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bangalore Urban district, would be the committee's members. The committee has been constituted as per the Karnataka High Court’s April 11, 2012 order on public interest litigation (PIL) petitions filed by Environment Support Group (ESG), B Krishna Bhat and others.
