The board of Power Grid Corporation has approved two major transmission projects costing Rs 1,000 crore. The project involves undertaking sub-station works associated with system strengthening in Southern region at an estimated cost of Rs 972.42 crore. This will facilitate import of power from Eastern region. The commissioning of this project is targeted in 36 months. The second project involves the implementation of Common Transmission Scheme associated with ISGS projects in Cuddalore / Nagapattinam region at an estimated cost of Rs 74.29 crore. The completion is targeted in 30 months.
