Tata Housing Development Company would not go ahead with its high-rise buildings project near Chandigarh’s Sukhna Lake till further orders from Supreme Court, the company told the apex court recently. The SC had sought the company's response within eight weeks to two petitions against the proposed construction of 1,794 residential flats.
The SC also issued notice to Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and the Centre asking them to give their views on the petitions within eight weeks. The company’s senior counsel Abhishek Singhvi assured the apex court that his client would “maintain status quo” which the SC recorded in its order.
