Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stated that the state will become the pioneer in generation of solar, wind, small hydel and biomass energy in the country.
New projects of renewable energy are being set up in the state at a rapid pace, he added. This information was given at a review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department chaired by the CM on November 26.
Chouhan said that it is necessary to encourage renewable energy on a large scale with a view to making Madhya Pradesh energy-rich. He directed installation of solar plants in government buildings. He also instructed to speed up the installing of solar streetlights in selected streets of major cities of the state.
