India's largest power equipment manufacturer BHEL is executing 2x800 MW Gadarwara coal based projects of NTPC Ltd in Madhya Pradesh. BHEL has been awarded the work of design, engineering, supply, erection, testing & commissioning & handing over BTG package and mill bay structures & bunker of the power project. The completion of this project is targeted by 2017. The power equipment major BHEL has commissioned projects with a cumulative capacity of more than 19,000 MW in two and half years of the XIIth plan whereas 25,385 MW was commissioned by the company in the XIth plan. BHEL supplied thermal sets fully meet performance standards notified by the CEA. BHEL supplied sets have demonstrated a better operating heat rate resulting in less coal consumption per unit of power produced as per CEA study.
