Mahavitaran is mulling to raise Rs 6,000 crore over the next three years to strengthen its network. Mahavitaran is the Maharashtra government-run electricity distribution company. The company said at the 'Maha Infra Summit', organised by Maharashtra Economic Council in Mumbai. The State has already spent Rs 5,000 crore on infrastructure during the past five years for the purpose.
Mahavitaran will use these funds to provide additional connections and ensure reliable supply across the state, apart from preventing pilferage by installing tamper-proof meters. The state utility has two crore consumers under its network, out of which over one crore are low-end consumers with a monthly intake of under 300 units.
The power distribution company currently provides 12 lakh connections every year. Now it wants to ensure connections to everyone who seeks one. The company also wants to guarantee there is no interruption in power supply throughout the state.
