The new terminals at the Chennai airport might be swanky with all the modern steel and glass fittings, but the toilets inside are a mess. Passengers cringe at the toilets made in a crude fashion with poorly fixed floor tiles. Commodes in the new domestic terminal are fixed on raised platforms from where water run off to other cubicles. Things are no different inside the new international terminal which may be opened in a month following an ultimatum from the Civil Aviation Ministry.
There are not many toilets in the new terminals though they are vast and spacious. The Airports Authority of India (AAI), which spent 2,015 crore on the buildings, seems to have overlooked crucial passenger amenities.
