To invite investors for timely execution of various upcoming power projects in Bihar, the state's 'Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited' (BSPHCL) and its subsidiary companies are organising a series of meetings in different parts of the country. BSPHCL held a conference at New Delhi on July 22 to showcase upcoming opportunities in Bihar's rapidly evolving power transmission and distribution sector. The conference focused on the changing business environment in the state, its commitment to boost power sector and the proposed funds for that in the 12th Plan.
More than 40 participants, including developers, contractors, component manufacturers and service providers participated in the meeting. The state was represented by the managing directors of Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (SBPDCL), along with key chief engineers from the utilities.
Sanjay K Singh, MD, BSPTCL, stressed the importance of power sector in the state development and elaborated upon the state's commitment to develop energy sector while describing the funding planned and sanctioned (to the tune of Rs 28,000 crore) under schemes such as Backward Regions Grant Fund, Restructured-Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP), Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana, funds by multilateral organisations and through the state's annual plans.
