Centre clears DPR for extension of BRTS in Ahmedabad

The central government cleared the proposal of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to implement Rs 500-crore BRTS phase-III project in the city.

The corporation intends to extend the reach of BRTS to SP Ring Road to provide better connectivity to commuters in Ahmedabad.

This is part of the 11 projects for which the civic body submitted DPR to the central government. These projects are worth Rs 1,550 crore and they include development of the BRTS corridor, buying new buses, setting up flyovers along with water and sewerage projects.

Specifically, AMC submitted a DPR of Rs 160 crore to buy 350 buses, including 90 for BRTS and 260 feeder buses.

The civic body has also taken up the project of building four flyovers at Helmet crossroads, Shyamal crossroads, Hatkeshwar crossroads and Dinesh Chamber crossroads on priority and submitted DPRs worth Rs 458 crore.
