For widening the Stadium Link Road in Kochi, the Kochi Corporation has finally managed to acquire five cents of land after 13 years. The road connects the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium with Thammanam-Pullepady Road. Work on the started in 2000.
The Kochi Corporation had failed to acquire the required five cents of land though the work on the road started in 2000. Acquisition of the land was a major bottleneck in the road work. The land has been acquired from from private individual.
The land owner had refused to handover the land despite repeated offers from the civic body and approached Ernakulam judicial magistrate court instead.
The court directed both parties to reach a settlement on the issue. And Finally, after 13 years, Deenu accepted for a swap of land of the civic body near Pipeline Road and the solution came to the road widening.
