Air India mulls to clear its dues of Rs 6,000 cr

The Union Finance Ministry has been urged by its Civil Aviation counterpart to release Rs 6,000 crore to the State-owned Air India to pay towards its dues to oil companies, airports and other vendors.    

The Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh told a business newspaper that Air India still owe a lot of money to oil companies and airports which is around Rs 6,000. He said if the Finance Ministry clears the money in this session, then by January Air India should be able to clear its dues.    

Air India's market share has inched up from 16.8 per cent in May, 2012 to 20.8 per cent in October, 2012.
