In a move that may raise the D1 offshore oil field production to 35,000 BOPD (barrels of oil per day) from current production of 12,400 BOPD, Essar Projects
developed the field for Rs 1,064 crore.
The project involved installation of three offshore platforms and laying of sub-sea pipelines to connect the three platforms to the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.
The fields, owned by ONGC, are located 200 km from Mumbai’s coast. The President and CEO of Essar Projects, Alwyn Bowden, in a press statement said executing the project on schedule was a strategic objective. The project was awarded by ONGC to Essar in May 2010.
Now the company is poised to execute similar projects worldwide. The D1B platform will receive the 35,000-BOPD of crude produced by the D1, D1C and D1D platforms and this will then be transferred for processing to the D1 field FPSO, the statement said.
