Neyveli Lignite Corporation, which is setting up a 51 mw wind farm in Tamil Nadu, awarded a Rs 346 crore contract to Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing for supplying and installing machines.

According to the terms of the contract, Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing would supply and install machines for the plant to be set up at Kaluneerkulam near Tirunelveli.

It may be noted that Leitwind Shriram Manufacturing is a joint venture between Shriram Group and Windfin BV (formerly Leitwind BV) and it makes wind electric generators.

The scope of this contract covers procurement of land, designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, testing, commissioning the machines. Also, the joint venture firm would take care of the operation and maintenance of farm.

Leitwind would execute the order over a period of 10 months. The firm is hopeful of strengthening its position in this segment and it expects a better prospect for the sector with the resumption of regulatory incentives.
