During the 12th Five Year Plan, the Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the launching of a new Integrated Processing Development Scheme (IPDS) with a total cost of Rs 500 crore and to establish four to six brown field projects and three to five green field projects addressing the environmental issues faced by textile processing units.
The eligible projects under the scheme would cover the following: (i) Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP), (ii) Captive power generation on technology preferably renewable/green technology, (iii) Infrastructure such as storm water management, necessary roads and pipelines for water & wastewater and (iv) Facility for testing and R&D centres.
The Scheme will facilitate the textiles industry become globally competitive using environmentally friendly processing standards and technology and create new processing parks.
This scheme will support the upgradation of existing processing clusters/centres specifically in the area of water and waste water management and also encourage research and development work in the textiles processing sector.
