Praveen Saxena, advisor to Union ministry of new and renewable energy has said on the side-lines of an event that states like Rajasthan and Gujarat are way ahead in terms of solar power generation. He said the country is targeting 1 lakh MW capacity of solar power in the next five years. Talking about the proposed Small Hydro Power policy, the minister has said the government aims to bring in private sector investment in this sector and renovate old small hydro projects. The state of Odisha is likely to set up small hydro projects with combined capacity of 700 to 750 MW and targets 5,000 MW of solar power production in the next three years.
