The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will construct three bridges on the proposed four-lane Moolampilly-Chathanad Road in Kochi. This will redefine travel through Kochi. Metro man E Sreedharan, the principal advisor to DMRC, will initiate a study on the project, and was scheduled to inspect the site on April 19, said the Kochi district Collector PI Sheik Pareeth.
DMRC will undertake construction of three main bridges - the 180-metre Moolampilly-Pizhala Bridge, the 230-metre Pizhala-Valiya Kadamakudy Bridge and the 350-metre Valiya Kadamakudy-Chathanad Bridge. The smaller bridge at Pizhala is 40-metre long. The proposed road is 4.5 km long and 22 metre wide.
The new road will have 15 to 18 culverts. The project is expected to cost Rs 97.2 crore.
