Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) produced 1.16 million tonne (mn t) of hot metal, 1.09 mn t of crude steel and 1.05 mn t of saleable steel during Apr-Sept 2012.
This is said to be the best ever performance during this period of an year in key production areas of the company. The firm utilised 115.7 per cent , 114.1 per cent and 125.4 per cent of its rated capacity for hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel respectively during April-September 2012.
In the case of sinter production (1.76 mn t), HR coil total (0.8 mn t) and average coke ovens pushing (361 per day) too, the performance was the all time best, RSP sources said.
During the first half of the current fiscal, RSP made 12,992 ton of Spiral Weld Pipes and 34646 ton of CRNO steel thereby registering growth of 9.3 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively.
The production trend in the 2nd quarter of the current fiscal contributed significantly in achieving the Apr-Sept performance. During the period July-September 2012, best ever performances were recorded in the production of hot metal (583,190 ton), crude steel (542,392 ton) and sinter (856,771 ton).
