Worli-Sewri elevated road to be ready in 4-yrs

Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has stated that though the 22.5 km Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project has been delayed, the Worli-Sewri elevated road, which is meant for dispersal of the MTHL traffic to Western parts of the city, will be constructed as per the schedule.

The elevated road, in addition to connecting MTHL, will have additional ramps on D’Mello road so it will be used by motorists from the eastern parts of the city to reach the western side in case MTHL is delayed.

The MTHL is set to provide faster and shorter connectivity between the city and Navi Mumbai International Airport along with the highways going to Pune and Goa. To provide smooth connectivity between the MTHL and western parts of the city, MMRDA planned the 4.5 km Worli- Sewri elevated road, which will start in Narayan Hardikar Marg, Worli, and meet MTHL at its Sewri interchange near Sewri Railway Station.

On August 12, the MTHL project failed to take off for the third time raising doubts over the construction of the elevated road. However, MMRDA claimed that the elevated road will be constructed as per the schedule and it will be used by motorists from D’Mello road.
