The 7,500 flats of the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) in KDA colonies situated in the various parts of the city will be sold to the tenants, who are already staying in the flats on rent. The tenants are paying nominal rents to the KDA at present.
KDA will sell these flats between Rs 3 and 5 lakh. KDA had planned to collect the payments in easy installments in five years.
These colonies with the flats were constructed in 1958 and had been let out since then. Tenants are residing in these colonies and paying a meagre amount as rent to KDA.
