Solar power to Delhi at Rs 5 per unit: Abdullah

Power from a solar power plant to be set up near the Delhi Secretariat would be made available to Delhi at Rs 5 per unit for the next 25 years, Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah said on July 25. Abdullah met Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to consider a 5 mw (megawatt) generation facility near the secretariat to meet the 2.5 mw daily demand of the entire complex.

Dikshit assured him that her government would soon identify a piece of land for it. Abdullah said that solar power facility would be commissioned on the lines of Chhattisgarh model at the secretariat complex in Raipur.  Out of 5 mw solar power, balance 2.5 mw could be transferred into the grid, the Minister said.
