For constructing 1,000 new plus 2 schools in 2013-14, the Bihar government has allocated Rs 500 crore, said Amarjeet Sinha, Principal Secretary of the State Education Department on June 10.
The state government had advertised for the appointment of 1.68 lakh teachers, but only 1.47 lakh candidates had passed the Bihar Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) in 2012. Nearly 62,000 appointment letters have been issued for primary school teachers and 6,000 for secondary school teachers, said Sinha.
