Belgaum cement unit to help Dalmia to expand in Maha

In Karnataka, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) will commission its 2.5-million-tonne (mt) cement plant in Belgaum by March, expanding its reach in the fast-growing Maharashtra market. The company’s production capacity in South India will increase to 11.5 mt with the opening of the Belgaum plant.    With the opening of the Belgaum plant, the company’s production capacity in South India will increase to 11.5 mt.    Cement consumption in Maharashtra has been about 24 mt annually and is projected to grow in double digits. The additional capacity will not affect the company’s overall capacity utilisation, the company said.    While the industry capacity utilisation is around 65 per cent, there are units operating at about 85 per cent.
