The Kochi Corporation has decided to speed up the repair work of roads across the city. The Council which met on July 24 decided to initiate proceedings for the same. The zonal engineers will be asked to lay metal patching on the roads on a war-footing. This will provide a short-term relief for commuters, said the Corporation. The potholes of the city roads will be repaired at the earliest, the Corporation said.
The Corporation also decided to convene a meeting of the Corporation authorities with the Public Works Department and National Highway Authority of India officials on the measures to be taken. As maintenance of many roads come under the jurisdiction of the PWD and NHAI, a meeting will be organised with their officials and Corporation authorities to find practical ways to mend the damaged roads, the Corporation said.
