In an undisclosed value of acquisition, Tata Power is buying AES Saurashtra Windfarms, the local wind business of Virginia-based AES’s Indian arm. The deal would hike Tata’s current capacity by 10 per cent taking it to 437 mw.
The Tata firm bought the 39.2 mw of assets in Gujarat's Dwarka through its wholly-owned subsidiary Tata Power Renewable Energy, thorugh a bidding process conducted by AES. Tata said it would continue looking for possible acquisitions of operating assets in the wind and solar segments.
Through its wholly owned subsidiary AES Saurashtra Windfarms (ASW), AES owns and operates the wind facility. The project consists of 49 wind turbines of Enercon E-53 make with 800 kW rated capacity.
