For improving container movement at Chennai Port Trust (CPT), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has offered its assistance to the CPT. The move would help the export-import trade plan better and save on time and cost.
The proposal assumes importance, as the JICA has already come forward for Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor project (CBIC), in which JICA will have a major engagement. The immediate and short-term plan is to develop the flow of containers using information technology.
