MMRDA carries study on flyover project

Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) has conductedinitial feasibility studies for the underpass and a flyover project at Kherwadi junction in Bandra (E), Mumbai.

The authority is planning to appoint consultants to prepare a project report. Meanwhile, it is learnt that the project will need approval from the Union ministry of environment and forests (MoEF), since the land on which the underpass is being contracted comes under the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) rules. The underpass will be built near Mithi river and mangroves.

Under the Rs 400 crore project, a 1.5-km underpass and a 300-m flyover will be constructed at Kherwadi to ease snarls on roads leading to BKC.
