With the launch of the pilot biomethanation plant in Chennai's Pulianthope, the biodegradable waste of the city could soon be generated into power and manure in the next 45 days. The plant uses Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) technology in the plant.
The pilot plant will have the capacity to convert two metric tonne of biodegradable waste into 40 kv of power, besides generate manure.
Barc scientists and Chennai Corporation officials inspected the plant.
