The second unit of GMR firm's coal-based 1,400 mega watt (mw) power plant in Odisha has started commercial operation. The global infrastructure major GMR Group's GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) stated on November 13 that it is setting up 4x350 mw coal-based power plant at Kamalanga in Dhenkanal district, about 100 km from Bhubaneswar.
The first unit of 350 mw commenced generation on April 30. The second unit of 350 mw started commercial operation on November 11, the company said in a statement. Power produced from GKEL is being supplied to GRIDCO in Odisha in line with the long-term Power Purchase Agreement.
