Foreign airlines in India operate from a total of 25 airports of the country. Among the foreign airlines, Dubai-based Emirates operate its services of 185 flights a week to India followed by the Sharjah-based low-cost airline, Air Arabia operates 111 weekly services to Indian destinations, said the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation KC Venugopal in the Lok Sabha on August 22.
The Minister added that among all the airlines, 81 foreign airlines-including 72 passenger and nine cargo carriers, operate 1,734 scheduled services a week.
The other top carriers operating flights to India are Oman Air, with 98 weekly services, and Qatar Airways with 95 and SriLankan Airlines with 84 services, the Minister said. Among the European carriers, British Airways and Germany’s Lufthansa operate 46 weekly services, Air France 20 while UK’s Virgin Atlantic and Turkish Airlines operate 14 weekly flights each.
