The Andhra Pradesh government will soon issue a government order (GO) for handing over Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department's roads to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by creating a separate division, said GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar on November 5.
Somesh Kumar stated this at a review meeting held with senior GHMC officials. He asked officials of various departments to work and travel as a team and prepare a holistic plan to develop a road length while addressing various issues such as sanitation, footpaths, patch works and greenery.
He asked the GHMC officials to come up with proposals for holistic development of 40 kilometre road in each circle within 10 days. The GHMC was planning to make specific changes in road maintenance policy by calling tenders, he said.
