The Centre has ruled out the possibility of capping the number of the Ultra Mega Power Projects (UMPPs) that can be allotted to a single firm. This is done as it is legally not possible to limit the number of UMPP's that a single compnay can set up.
Sushil KumarShinde's, Union Power Minister's statement is in the concerns that have been raised over the issue as huge power projects require huge investments. Concerns over the viability and timely execution of these massive projects continue as major developers such as Reliance Power have three out of four such projects.
