NTPC awarded Rs 5,338.42-crore contract to develop and operate coal mines in Jharkhand to a consortium led by Brahmaputra Infrastructure (BIL).
The consortium would develop and operate Chattibariatu coal mining block in Hazaribag, Jharkhand, for a period of 24 years.
BLA Projects Pvt Ltd and GSCO Infrastructure are the other members of the consortium. This project marks BIL foray as a mines developer operator (MDO) for coal mining projects and a significant addition to its ongoing mining projects involving bulk material handling and development of mine infrastructure, it said.
A press release issued by BIL shows the order value was one of the highest for any domestic MDO issued by a public sector company. This order is in line with BIL's existing business activities.
BIL received a huge opportunity to prove its capabilities as an MDO and increase its topline from the issue, the release said.
BIL is an infrastructure development company and provides engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for such projects.
