To avoid road traffic jams and prevent crime, Kolkata police have got surveillance CCTV cameras fixed at every traffic crossing in the city. The facility, which was launched on November 1, is described as revolution as the CCTV watch helped the city police to intervene quickly and take effective action in event of crime and traffic offences.
According to the police, they have caught eve-teasers/stalkers with the help of the CCTV cameras, even before the harassed victim could approach the police for help. Like this, the police have interesting success stories even in traffic offences like speed/reckless driving.
