SREI scouts for distressed power, road projects

Diversified SREI Group is planning to acquire distressed assets in power and road sectors and it is now scouting for such projects put for distress sale. The company is interested in assets which have already undergone a credit restructuring or lenders or promoters are ready to exit. SREI Finance runs 28,000 service centres spread over West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, parts of Tamil Nadu and Eastern UP.    

In West Bengal, the group currently owns a profitable 250 mw electricity distribution business in industrial region of Asansol and is also investing in a Rs 2,475 crore power generation capacity at Haldia through DPSC.    

The company has a wide portfolio of assets in both the sectors through its flagship NBFC, SREI Infrastructure Finance.
