Under the Rajiv Awas Yojna, Himachal Pradesh government has launched a pilot housing project in Krishnanagar (Shimla) for construction of 300 residential houses at a cost of Rs 34 crore. Under the scheme, a community centre, park, library, old age home, dispensary and a de-addiction centre will also to be constructed, said the State Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on September 1 after performing foundation stone laying ceremony.
All 87 earmarked slum habitations would be covered under the Scheme to make Shimla slum free city, the Chief Minister said. He said that three sites had been identified for construction of 300 houses in Krishnanagar. 224 needy families would be allotted houses in the first phase of the scheme. This project would be completed in the next two years. Whereas 76 houses would be given on rental basis.
Himachal Pradesh government is giving special emphasis on providing better facilities and services to the local residents and tourists, the CM said and explained about the other welfare programmes being taken up in the state.
