In India, the scope for cold storage business is enormous, says an official of the Union government. India is facing 15 million tonne of cold storage facility gap and needs investment from private sector to overcome it.
Secretary of the Union Ministry of Food Processing (MFP) said in Hyderabad recently that available data says the availability of cold storage capacity is about 25 million tonne in 2010. The requirement was assessed to be 61 million tonne.
