Coal reserves in India would be sufficient for 100 more years, Minister of State for Coal Pratik Patil informed
reporters after visiting 11 incline mining site at Godavarikhani industrial area, Andhra Pradesh.
He, however, said there is a need to commission new projects based on solar, power and hydel sources.
Singareni Collieries Company Chief Managing Director Sutheerth Bhattacharya and other officials were also present at visit.
He further informed that environmental clearance is not forthcoming to set up new coal units and hence their establishment is pending even though there is a huge demand for coal.
